When it comes to relationships, some people choose to let nature run its course, whereas others are dead set on unions based on astrology compatibility. Of course, some fall somewhere in between (e.g. they date whomever they wish but take cues from their horoscope from time-to-time.) So, which path leads to the most successful relationship? Does sign compatibility truly make or break a relationship?
Here’s the thing about sun sign (astrological sign) compatibility. While it’s true that some signs are simply more harmonious than others based on personality traits, likes, and dislikes, as with all psychic advice, dating sign compatibility is merely a guide. At the end of the day, relationships and matchmaking are complicated, so it’s up to you to choose who you want to create a relationship with.
Even so, astrology comes in different forms, all of which have been utilized around the world for centuries. Along with matters of the heart, astrology can help chart other important life goals, too. Let’s take a closer look at how astrology compatibility works in modern-day times (Hint: it hasn’t changed much over the years!).
As you may already know, there are 12 Western astrology signs (one for each month of the year), all of which are based on the constellations’ positions relative to the earth. The Western astrological calendar is like a normal calendar year that is based on the Earth’s orbit around the sun, which catalyzes celestial alignment.
It’s believed that those born in the same month have similar traits. So, for example, those born under the sign of the Capricorn (December 22 through January 20) are one of the hardest-working signs in the zodiac (a blessing and a curse — especially when in a relationship.) They’re highly disciplined and ambitious, responsible for their actions, and intensely devoted when it comes to relationships.
Compatibility Between Sun Signs
Sun signs are a starting point for exploring compatibility in the astrological universe. They’re a quick and easy way to see if you have potential with a partner (or not) on a surface level. For example:
- Fire signs: Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius
Compatible with: Other Fire signs and and Air signs (Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius)
- Earth signs: Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn
Compatible with: Other Earth signs and Water signs (Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces)
- Air signs: Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius
Compatible with: Other Air signs and Fire signs (Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius)
- Water signs: Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces
Compatible with: Other Water signs and Earth signs (Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn)
